Dmitry Lazyuk (1969-2020)

Artist, musician and poet, a prominent representative of Naive Art & Art Singulier in Estonia at the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st century. Author of the ironic "Theory of the Elementary Artist", permanent member of the creative group "Hedgehogs", student and associate of the famous artist Vagan Kilp, who lived and worked in Tallinn in the 90s of the last century.                                                           Dmitry Lazyuk created a unique style, which in terms of emotionality was often compared to the work of the great Fauvists of the early 20th century., for its originality, direct imagery and simplicity of perception of the world around him.          The plots of his paintings often contain elements of surrealism and otherworldly reality, although at first glance the paintings seem bright and harmless humorous pieces.
His paintings often depicted disappearing buildings and landscapes of his hometown, as if anticipating their departure from reality. One of the artist's favorite motifs was old Tallinn, which he depicted with special love and accuracy. In general, his work covered many genres: from colorful grotesque and phantasmagoria on canvases to simple pencil sketches from the life of city courtyards and scenes of everyday life. From full-scale murals in cafes and houses to small Christmas cards for friends. He knew how to fill even the darkest plots with irony and sincere sincerity. Throughout his career, Dmitry closely intertwined painting with poetry and music. He left behind many satirical text sketches, united by the general title "Bubbles". Some of them were published by his poet friends in the format of a poetry collection, and some were recorded in the format of a musical work called "Fly Away Tsvetayev". Also, several of his musical works were arranged and recorded in the format of the musical project "Dzuma feat. CHEKI" on the Moscow music label Legkie. At the moment, many of his works adorn private collections all over the world.  Here are presented for sale paintings from different periods of his work and from our family collection.
